它的原产地在贵州省下司，居民以苗族为主，居住载深山中，林深茂密，山高路远，随着时间的变迁，自然而然的形成了下司犬的狩猎特性，下司犬机智灵活、狩猎勇敢、对主人温顺又忠诚，但对外来入侵者毫不让步，非常的通人性，可以观察主人的意图去行事，下司犬们之间团结友好，知道怎么与主人打配合，全能型的狩猎大师。

凉山犬：凉山犬是天生的山地猎犬，原产地是四川凉山州，在很多的山地区域都是用这种狗狗，当地人喜欢叫它撵山狗，成群的去狩猎那可是威力无穷、身形敏捷、凶猛无比。由于大凉山还是处于一种自然的状态，那儿的生活条件极为艰苦，凉山犬大多都是自由放养在山中，家中条件无法满足它们对食物的需求，生存的压力使得它们必须自己外出觅食、捕猎，因为处于这样的生活环境，锻炼出了它勤快、吃苦、勇敢、追踪能力强的优点，以及对捕猎强大的欲望。
